Comprehensive care of the oncology patient requires extensive knowledge beyond CDT. In order to effectively treat an oncology patient with or without lymphedema, we must have a clear understanding of the patients’ cancer experience (type of cancer, stage, grade, side effects of specific surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, biotherapy, targeted therapy and hormonal therapies) as well as effectively perform differential diagnostics and identify oncologic emergencies. This course dives into the specifics of the cancer experience, providing opportunity to treat the whole patient. You will learn comprehensive rehabilitation, including new manual skills and interventions to effectively treat the musculoskeletal, soft tissue and scar tissue restrictions that simultaneously occur with a person going through cancer treatment. Best practice protocols, exercise prescription, documentation tips and invaluable clinical pearls are provided. Advanced lymphatic rehabilitation training is included for active cancer and complex head and neck, breast, trunk and genital lymphedema.
